Feast of the Immaculate Conception (C)
(School Mass)
Today is a very special feast day in our Church: the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Today, we celebrate our Blessed Mother, Mary! The Mother of our Lor Jesus Christ.
In today’s Gospel, we hear the beautiful story of the Angel Gabriel visiting Mary. Gabriel had big news for her: God had chosen her to be the mother of His Son, Jesus. Imagine how Mary must have felt! She was surprised and maybe even a little scared. But Mary trusted God. She said, “Let it be done to me according to your word.” That means she told God, “Yes!”
Now, here’s something amazing to remember: from the moment Mary was conceived—when she was growing up in her mother’s womb—God gave her a special gift. He freed her from sin so she could be the perfect mother for Jesus. That’s what we call the “Immaculate Conception.”
Mary is like the new Eve. If you remember the story of Adam and Eve, Eve said “no” to God’s plan, bringing sin into the world. But Mary said “yes,” which brought Jesus—our Savior—into the world! Because of Mary’s faith and trust in God, His power worked through her to do something incredible.
Guess what? When we trust God like Mary did, He can do amazing things through us, too! Maybe He’ll use your kindness to help a friend who’s sad or your generosity to help someone in need. When we say “yes” to God, we become like Mary—vessels of His love and goodness.
So today, let’s thank Mary for her “yes” and ask her to help us trust God with all our hearts. Like Mary, we can bring Jesus into the world through words, actions, and love.
Let’s pray together: “Mary, our mother, help us to trust God like you did. Teach us to say ‘yes’ to Him every day. Amen.”
